AMA means Ask Me Anything. A trademark introduced by Reddit and aimed to organize interactive Q&A sessions with the audience of a specific person. Several BitClout profiles are offering - or are being approached for - organizing AMA's. There's a high interest for an AMA with one of BitClout's lead developers (@diamondhands). Due to the high workload of BitClout's Dev team, they captured the questions (and answers) for now in a regular FAQ-section which can be found here. 

Ascendex is a global digital asset trading platform. Ascendex is the second platform to start trading $clout (Blockchain.com was the first one). Trading started on 14 July 2021. They have 1million+ retail & institutional users globally. Ascendex's BitClout profile is available here. 

Decentralized mechanism to exchange Bitcoin for BitClout. Removes the need for a central intermediary such as an exchange.

A new type of social network that lets you speculate, on people and posts, with real money. The BitClout blockchain has its own native cryptocurrency, called BitClout.

Bitday refers to the day someone joined BitClout. Because BitClout is not only open-source, but also "open data". As a consequence, anyone can always validate how long a user is already on the platform. This also enables OGs to proof that they actually are OGs.

Blockchain.com was the first crypto exchange one could use to trade BitClout (CLOUT). CLOUT was officially listed on June 15, 2021

A mathematical curve (formula) that determines the relation between the token price and token supply. See also supply curve.

Automated (non-personal) accounts designed to interact on BitClout. For example, bots can be capable of trading, following users, and (re)clouting.

BUIDL refers to build, similar to how HODL refers to hold. BUIDLers believe that trading cryptos is not sufficient to grow a crypto project. To support adoption and improvements of the ecosystem people should contribute in an active manner. BUIDLing is much broader than writing code. It can also include beta testing, writing articles, and any other contribution to the ecosystem. 

CIP is short for Clout Improvement Proposal. Maebeam, one of the core DEVs announced CIPs in July 2021. CIPs play a crucial role in driving innovation in a decentralized Social Media Platform. It allows BitClout users to suggest and discuss improvements. The process and CIP types (small, medium, large) are described on Github. @Bitcloutpulse has released a great article on this topic. 

Seemingly compelling content, to attract attention and encourage Clouters to reclout, follow or engage otherwise.

CloutFeed is the first and only mobile app for BitClout. As they state on their website it allows you to "Access the same features as the web version, & many more!". As an example it also allows you to scroll through the recent feed where the web version only shows the global and the following feed. A security audit showed that this app is safe and does not expose your seed phrase. 

A set of posts, followers, and creator coin balances linked to a unique profile. Profile "clouts" can be moved to any domain that runs a BitClout node.

Each user profile on the BitClout platform is associated with a unique coin, the Creator Coin. This is a new investment category where investments are not made in a commodity or a company, but in a person.

CVL means Community Verifiied List.  CVL is the first peer-to-peer BitClout profile verification service. They verify profiles and enable users to get trusted before a blue Bitclout checkmark. As such they help BitClout users avoid scam accounts. You can access their BitClout profile by clicking here. 

BitClout's supply will be fixed forever at block 33,783 (on Saturday June 12th). BitClout user and developer Diamondhands calls this the deflation bomb. It highlights the moment in time at which the minting of BitClout stops. This event caps the total amount of BitClout to the amount of BitClout minted already and the amount that can be mined in the upcoming years. More details can be found in this post by Diamondhands.

To express that you appreciate a post on BitClout you can award it with a diamond. Awarding a diamond is more than simply expressing a "like" because it also transfers a (small) monetary value from the person awarding to the creator of that post. This feature trigger new dynamics for Creators to earn appreciation and money on the platform.

A feed shows you the posts submitted to the BitClout blockchain. The BitClout website features a Global Feed and a Following Feed. The Global Feed provides a selection of all posts. The Following Feed provides the posts of people you chose to follow. If you use the CloutFeed app you can also browse the most recent posts.

Percentage of created (bought) coins that go to the wallet of the creator rather than the wallet of the buyer. A profile owner can set and change this percentage. BitClout's whitepaper suggests 10% as a "sane default".

Your social media handle is your public name associated with your accounts on all of your social media platforms. It will help you strengthen your personal brand in front of your audience and followers.

A person who follows the HODL strategy. HODL is a misspelling of the word hold in a Bitcointalk forum in 2013. HODL is also said to mean Hold on for Dear life. A HODLer invests with a view to the long term. They ignore the highs and lows, trusting that they will make a lot of money in the long run.

A cryptocurrency ledger is a public decentral record-keeping system. The ledger stores digital (transaction) data only after consensus is reached. In the blockchain context, the ledger is typically called a "distributed ledger". Distributed refers to the fact that each node in the blockchain network stores and maintains the exact same copy of the ledger. Immutability is a core characteristic. So, what happens on the BitClout blockchain stays on the BitClout blockchain.

The current USD value invested in a unique User Profile.

A riddle that caused great excitement in the BitClout community. The riddle was introduced by a profile called Lu1s. BitClout members are challenged to contribute to revealing a 12-word seed phrase. Once known the next of this riddle will be opened to the community. Final rewards are not known yet.

Memes spread via Social Media networks. They typically contain both pictures and text and convey jokes, ideas, opinions, or other elements that the creator wanted to share. Memes are truly multi-faceted and contain a lot of cultural and symbolic elements. 

Minting refers to the process by which new coins are being created.

A computer in the BitClout blockchain that serves the BitClout content and maintains the network. All nodes store a full copy of the data.

Notifications is a feature that users can select on the bitclout.com website. Notifications will inform the users about: new followers, people liking your post, people replying to your posts, people mentioning you in a post, people reclouting your post, and users sending you BitClout, diamonds or private messages.

OG is short for Original Gangster, or simply Original. The term is used on BitClout to refer to those creators who a) joined BitClout early and b) are playing an active role from the beginning.

All BitClout data is stored publicly on the blockchain. Anyone who runs and syncs a node has access to the entire data set and can build applications on top of that. These applications can add to that same data set and thus enrich the data for all others operating a node. This is a core feature of decentralized Social Media. Totally opposite to centralized Social Media where one company is managing and exploiting the entire data set for its own gain.

Bitclout is fully open-source. That means that all code that powers BitClout is published on Github. This includes all code required to run a node and to run the frontend. BitClout can be considered as "Open-Data" as well. 

Purchases in the form of Creator Coins, out of either empathy, compassion, or remorse.

A means to share a message on the BitClout platform. A message contains max. 280 characters and 1 picture.

Consensus mechanism of BitClout's  blockchain

A set of manipulations designed to boost the Creator Coin price beyond its intrinsic value. The manipulators will sell their position as soon as the coin reaches its hyped price.

Reclouting a post while including a comment.

Sharing a post created by another user (profile). Without adding comments.

A person who is overly focused on getting a lot of reclouts of his posts. A creator focuses on excellent content and may get a lot of post reclouts because of that. A reclout chaser is just merely interested in that result.

Pre-loaded profiles that have not been verified by the owner yet. Indicated by a clock icon next to their name.

Dumping your own Creator Coin if the price goes up quickly. The money you earn by such a move will be at the expense of those supporters that also bought your coin because dumping your coin will decrease the price and the value of their investment. A seed phrase is a list of 12 random words generated upon the creation of a user profile. You must store your seed phrase at all times, because you need it to access your profile and hence your funds. 

The formula to determine the price of a Creator Coin: Price in BitClout = .003 * creator_coins_in_circulation^2.

People that purchased one or multiple Creator Coins. 

Followers or BitClout members that buy and sell Creator Coins on the platform. 

Whales are individuals, entities, or organizations owning a substantial amount of BitClout or Creator Coins. Whales have sufficient funds to move the price in their preferred direction via buy and sell transactions.
